About Nurse Practitioners: Nurse Practitioner: A registered nurse who has completed additional training beyond basic nursing education and who provides primary health care services in accordance with state nurse practice laws or statutes.   • Providing education on disease prevention and healthy lifestyles.
  • Performing certain procedures, such as a bone marrow biopsy or lumbar puncture.
