Nurse Practitioner (NPs) are also referred as an ARNP (Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner) or APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse). Nurse Practitioners have more authority than registered nurses(RNs) and have similar responsibilities to that of a doctor. They can serve as a primary care or specialty care providers and typically focus their care on a specific population such as families, children, or the elderly. • Taking the person's history, performing a physical exam, and ordering laboratory tests and procedures.
• Diagnosing, treating, and managing diseases.
• Writing prescriptions and coordinating referrals.
• Providing education on disease prevention and healthy lifestyles.
• Performing certain procedures, such as a bone marrow biopsy or lumbar puncture.
