About Nurse Anesthetists: Nurse Anesthetists: A licensed registered nurse with advanced specialty education in anesthesia who, in collaboration with appropriate health care professionals, provides preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care to patients and assists in management and resuscitation of critical patients in intensive care, coronary care, and emergency situations. Nurse Practitioner (NPs) are also referred as an ARNP (Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner) or APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse). Nurse Practitioners have more authority than registered nurses(RNs) and have similar responsibilities to that of a doctor.
